This beautiful 42' Bristol Offshore trawler has just completed a very extensive and comprehensive re-fit by Hartge Yacht Yard in Galesville, MD in the spring of 2007. She is extremely well equipped, and has all the comforts you would expect from a well appointed trawler.

Originally built for surveyor David Day,and then sold to renowned surveyor Giffy Full, "Mother Goose" features a large bridge deck, a second deck, and lower decks for enjoying beautiful weather on the water. In addition, she has two helm stations, one on the bridge and one in the main salon, which both offer excellent visibility and flexibility to operate this vessel where it is most comfortable given your weather conditions. Storage throughout the yacht is exceptional and her layout is sure to please the most discriminating yachtsman. Please click on the full specs tab for all of the details!

Economical Operation!

These days, everyone is concerned with fuel consumption in boats. "What's it gonna cost me to run this boat for the weekend?" "Mother Goose" is very economical to run as she only burns 2.5 gallons per hour at cruise, as calculated by her owner on a recent 300 mile cruise.

Trades Considered!

Accommodations & Layout Overview

"Mother Goose" offers ample deck space on her large bridge deck, second deck, and lower decks for enjoying some sunshine while on the water. She has two helm stations, one on the bridge and one in the main salon, which both offer excellent visibility and the flexibility to operate this vessel where it is most comfortable given your weather conditions. Ample storage can be found throughout the boat, and her functional layout is sure to please the most discriminating yachtsman.

This well designed trawler offers ample room below and can comfortably accommodate two couples or a larger family with children. Starting in the bow, there is a large V-berth forward with a head to port. Opposite the head, there is a large hanging locker. Moving aft, there is a comfortable dinette on the port side opposite the well appointed galley. Stepping up a few steps into the main salon, there is the lower helm station, full electrical panel, access to the engine room, and ample seating in several chairs and the large L-shaped settee on the aft bulkhead. Stepping down into the aft cabin, you pass by a large hanging locker on the port side. This opens into a large aft cabin with a double berth, and a head on the starboard side.

2007-2008 Refit

Below is an abbreviated list of items replaced in the refit of this fine vessel. Her owners spared no expense in the process & intended to keep the boat for years to come, so there were no short cuts, cheats, or cost saving measures taken during the process. Any other Bristol trawler on the market today would need in excess of $200,000 worth of work to bring them to the level of detail taken in the refit of "Mother Goose". Also, she does not leak anywhere! Her owner encourages interested parties to inspect the underside of decks in cabins fore & aft to see how fresh and dry her construction is. Bilge stringers are heavy fiberglass with no wood in them!

Owner Notes On Engine Representation

ENGINE REPRESENTATIONS: "Mother Goose' 1970, 42' Bristol Offshore Trawler. prior name "Surveyor"

This fine Caterpillar D333 engine was personally selected by the first owner, Surveyor David Day of Maine. He wanted no trouble and so far, his selection proved brilliant. He also coupled it with an oversized transmission and steering gear . Second owner, renowned surveyor Giffy Full of Maine restated October 23, 2008. "You will never out live that engine." He owned it many years and did several round trips from Maine to the Bahamas.

Although out of production now, this engine got its fame according to several sources, as the workhorse generator engine on the Alaska pipeline. Again from several sources, they can go up to 30,000 hours before they need a rebuild. That is a lot in any vessel I know of!

You may ask, why the rebuild in 2003? Giffy sold the boat to a loving father who owned a boatyard in Maine. It went to his daughter and son-in-law. A messy divorce caused the boat to go on hard times and as a precaution, the siezed engine was pulled and rebuilt by the Cat dealer, Southworth Milton in Maine at a cost of $23,000.The engine starts and runs every time , and purrs like a kitten. Professionally maintained since current owner bought it in 2006. According to Cat, all parts readily available. Needless to say, we believe this engine is the heart of the vessel, and a very strong heart to say the least.

Fuel Tank Information

The fuel tanks aboard "Mother Goose" were drained, cleaned, inspected, pressure tested and painted while the vessel was undergoing her refit in the winter of 2007. This was all done under the supervision of the surveyor. All new fuel hoses, vent hoses, fill hoses & valves were used after inspection in 2007.

Showing Instructions

Please note that all of our vessels are shown by prior appointment! We ask that that you give us at least 24 hours notice (even more if possible) by email or phone before you wish to see one of our boats. That way we can be sure and block out some time for you to see the boat! We do not want to have you arrive to an empty office because we are out showing a boat to your neighbor! Also, many of our boats are kept off-site & sometimes we can meet you either at the yard where the boat is located, or nearby and save you time traveling to Oxford unnecessarily. We look forward to hearing from you!
